NATIONAL ORPHAN TRAIN MUSEUM PRESENTS TULIP TIME IN TOPEKA AND HARVEY GIRL LUNCH AT THE GREAT OVERLAND STATION TUESDAY APRIL 10, 2012 ESCORTED BY LINDA HOUSER

SPRING IS HERE! Let’s celebrate with
a visit to two beautiful gardens in
Topeka where we will see more than
100,000 tulips and daffodils. We visit
Lake Shawnee to see the picturesque
flowers and waterfall during the Tulip
Festival. We have a guided tour
provided by Dave with Shawnee County
Parks and Recreation. Next, we enjoy a
Harvey House Lunch and Tour of
the great Overland Station. We learn
the history of the restaurateur Fred Harvey and how he changed food service on
the railroad with more than 100,000 women, many Kansans, proudly wearing the
back and white uniform of the Harvey Company. After lunch we have a guided
tour of the Overland Station.
Our next stop is Old Prairie Town Gardens, featuring a classic garden
pavilion, decorative walkways, water gardens with bridges, 31,000 tulips and
daffodils and many varieties of flowers, shrubs, and trees. You can enjoy the
Historic Village, get a snack at the soda fountain or look around the General
Store.
