Hollis (Holly) Canham -
Holly is the founding president of the Orleans County Genealogical Society of
Albion, NY, and has taught genealogical research classes for nearly thirty years.
She teaches a class entitled "Breaking Down Your Brick Walls".

Holly is honored to give presentations entitled "Saluting Orphan Train Riders!"
using a variety of educational materials including video, print materials,
photographs and oral tradition.

Fee:
Fee is negotiable, usually a modest donation to OCGS (repository for things
dealing with orphan train riders in New York State). Holly will travel.

Tom Riley -
Author of the book The Orphan Train Riders, Tom speaks to groups at New York
libraries and Elderhostels. Tom was instrumental in the discovery of 26 boxes of
information from the Five Points House of Industry, which is currently located at
the Rockland County Historical Society

Equipment Requirements:
His presentation requires a DVD player. The program lasts for an hour and 15
minutes.

Fee:
Tom usually receives an honorarium of $150 to offset his expenses.

Cindy Young -
Cindy has been a teacher for over 30 years and is a true believer in spreading
knowledge of the Orphan Trains to all students. For the past 8 years, Cindy has
been conducting a very successful "outreach project" of her own design, reaching
thousands of students and adults in the Edmond, OK area.

Clark Kidder -
Clark is the author of Orphan Trains and Their Precious Cargo, and speaks on
the Orphan Trains as a member of the Wisconsin Humanities Council Speakers
Bureau. He reads from his newly completed book on the life of his grandmother,
Emily (Reese) Kidder. Emily rode an orphan train from NY to the Midwest in 1906.
She was brought out by Rev. H. D. Clarke on behalf of Children's Aid Society. Mr.
Kidder's presentation is about an hour and 15 minutes. He can be retained either
independently or through the Wisconsin Humanities Council.

Equipment Requirement:
He requires access to a public address system and a computer projection system
to project a Power-Point presentation

Travel Area:
Mr. Kidder will travel if travel expenses are paid.  

Fee:
He requests an honorarium fee of $150.00.

Sharon Burns -
Sharon is a columnist for the Daily Oklahoman. She tells the basic history of the
Orphan Trains: The Placing Out in America to groups in the Oklahoma area. She
brings with her information on various resources: books, magazine and
newspaper articles, the PBS video presentation, Internet Websites, and original
rider's stories.

Equipment Requirement:
While Sharon brings her own computer projection equipment, she does need a
white wall or movie screen on which to project her presentation.

Fee:
Sharon does not require a fee but donations are accepted to defray travel costs.

Donna Nordmark Aviles

Donna Aviles is the granddaughter of rider Oliver Nordmark and the author of
two books, Fly Little Bird, Fly! and Beyond The Orphan Train.  Written at the 5th
grade level, both books are the story of Oliver's early life as an orphan train
rider from NYC to Kansas, and are currently under contract with screenwriter
William Rotko.

Mrs. Aviles is available for presentations on the orphan train movement to
schools and community organizations.

Fee:
School presentations are at no charge for Delaware, and Southern Chester Co.,
PA if schools are willing to do a pre-sale of the author's books.  Otherwise, the
fee is $75.00 for the first presentation and $25.00 for each additional
presentation on the same day.  Schools outside of DE and S. Chester Co. PA
would have travel expenses added.
